TLCC participates in the 5th Annual Washington
Irving Elementary School Health Fair Edmond, OK where 800 students and student
families attended
Washington Irving Fifth Annual Health Fair
The Health Fair was held in the school's gymnasium
and cafeteria.
February 4, 2010, from 6-8pm
Different community leaders in a variety of health fields
were present and had booths offering information about safety and
health. TLCC had an interactive booth teaching kids
stress management skills to Washington Irving's students and
families. The TLCC booth consisted of a water table with ping pong balls
labeled with different life stressors such as, "homework," "divorce,"
"fight with your sibling," "bullying," and
"sports." The goal for the students was to hold as many
ping pong balls under the water with their hands. At a certain point they
found that regardless of whether the stressors were good or bad, they couldn't
hold all of the balls under the water. TLCC Counselors talked about good
stress and bad stress and offered handouts on stress and anger management for
children and their families. Overall it was a fun night and a great
success.
If your school or organization is interested in having TLCC
counselors be a part of your event or help educate your students, staff on a
variety of important and interesting topics please contact us at (405) 246-LIFE
