There, he focused his studies primarily on the intersections of psychology, theology, and philosophy, and the theory and technique of psychoanalytic psychotherapy. During his time at Fuller, Dr. Horton had the privilege of working with low-income adults and adolescents in outpatient community mental health clinics, and with low-income children in school-based services in the greater Los Angeles area conducting both psychotherapy and personality/neuropsychological asessments. Following the completion of his schoolwork, Dr. Horton was chosen by the Danielsen Institute at Boston University as one of their 2010-2011 clinical fellows. During his time at BU, Dr. Horton was privileged to conduct psychotherapy with outpatient adults in a setting that emphasized the importance of attention to spiritual, existential, religious, and theological sources of meaning in the lives of patients, with a further emphasis on relationally oriented psychotherapy. He also gained a wealth of experience with neuropsychological and personality testing of adults during this time.
